Did You Know?

The foot has 26 bones, 33 joints and 31 ligaments.

The average person takes 10,000 – 15,000 steps per day – that is approximately 115,000 miles in a lifetime – enough to circle the planet four times!

The feet of a 130 pound individual absorb 500 pounds of pressure with every step. The impact reaches about five million pounds of pressure each day!

The foot is the body’s shock absorber, along with the knees, hips and discs of the low back. The arch of the foot functions to absorb 30% shock when the foot hits the ground.

Years of standing and walking on concrete cause changes in the foot that lead to the vast majority of the foot, ankle, knee, hip and back problems we encounter today.

Covered by many health insurance plans.

Background & Accomplishments:
Dr. Brian Stutz
has been practicing in Denver since 2001. He joined Dr. Peter Hanson at the Cherry Creek Centre for Healing in 2003 with a vision of helping to create a “one stop shop” for alternative and complimentary healthcare. Dr. Stutz has developed a diverse practice with patients ranging in age from seven months to ninety-three years. He estimates that approximately fifty percent of his practice involves cases of lower extremity pain.

Dr. Stutz has a passion for treating knee, ankle, and foot pain because he has been personally affected by these ailments in the past and feels that they are frequently mismanaged. At a young age, Dr. Stutz was diagnosed with congenital fusion in a number of the joints in his feet, thus limiting the ability of his feet to absorb shock. This anomaly produced severe knee and foot pain during prolonged standing, walking, and running. Upon trying a number of different treatments, he was finally able to overcome the symptoms of his condition. Currently, Dr. Stutz is pain-free, largely due to the methods of treatment currently employed in his office today. As a specialist in custom foot orthotic design, he has helped dozens of patients avoid hip, knee, and foot surgery. Dr. Stutz has designed orthotics for members of the Colorado Avalanche and US Ski Team.
