A Board Certified Pedorthist is a specialist in the treatment of lower extremity conditions. Pedorthists make modifications to shoes, heel lifts, design custom foot inserts and orthotics, and much more. They differ from podiatrists in that they design and manufacture devices themselves rather then sending a prescription to a lab. As a result, the patient is speaking with the person that is actually creating the device/modification, rather than simply writing the prescription. Therefore, pedorthists have the highest rate of success when treating biomechanical lower extremity symptoms.
Dr. Stutz has extensive training in the areas of anatomy, biomechanics, and pathophysiology. He takes great pride in designing the best orthotics available by using cutting edge casting techniques and creative modifications, many of which he has personally invented. Dr. Stutz estimates that half of the patients that he designs orthotics for are pain free. Many people that have a family history of lower extremity conditions, or are highly active, choose to have custom inserts made to prevent them from experiencing problems later in life. For those that are in pain, conditions that are successfully treated in his office include; Plantar Fasciitis, Ankle sprains, Knee pain, Metatarsalgia, Morton’s Neuromas, Hammer toes, Achilles tendonitis, Arthritis, Bunion pain, Runner’s Knee, Shin Splints and Foot cramping.

Quick
Study
Your
feet were not designed to walk or run
on concrete and other hard surfaces encountered
in the modern world. These firm artificial
surfaces produce excessive stress on the
ball of the foot, often leading to pain,
bunion formation and a number of other
medical issues. True custom
orthotics neutralize the effects of these
surfaces.
The
arch of the foot is designed to absorb shock.
True custom orthotics ensure that you maximize
your body's natural built-in shocks by preventing
arch collapse. Your
feet are your body's foundation.
